Spot Ethanol Prices Ease in Early Trade on Supply Build

Chicago and New York Harbor spot ethanol prices were discussed slightly lower early Wednesday after the Energy Information Administration said ethanol stocks climbed 700,000 bbl to better than one-year high of 23.3 million bbl, with plant production up 10,000 bpd to a near two-month high of 1.054 million bpd.

Blending demand eased 4,000 bpd to 911,000 bpd during the week-ended March 24. Midwest supplies were at a record high of 8.6 million bbl.

Prompt supply ethanol at the Argo hub in the Chicago cash market traded at $1.525 per gallon, down 0.25 cent, with prompt Rule 11 rail delivery talked at $1.525 per gallon for a 0.5-cent loss. April barged ethanol in the New York Harbor was discussed at a $1.62 to $1.63 per gallon bid/ask spread for a 1.0-cent session loss.
