Spot Ethanol Prices Spike in LA on Supply Squeeze
Spot ethanol prices rose Thursday in Chicago and New York Harbor on higher RBOB futures traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange, while rallying in the southern California cash market on tight regional supply, explained one trade source.
Prompt delivered fuel ethanol to the Los Angeles basin was bid at $1.74 per gallon for a gain of 7.5 cents.
In the New York Harbor, April barged ethanol was talked at $1.65 per gallon for a 1.0-cent gain. Prompt delivered ethanol at the Argo terminal in the Chicago market traded at $1.55 and $1.565 per gallon for a 2.5-cent gain on the session.
