Spot Ethanol Pressured by Corn Futures as Supply Fears Ease

Spot ethanol prices were mostly lower in thin trade Monday, with a prompt delivered New York Harbor barge trading at $2.51 gallon before being talked at $2.50 gallon, unchanged.

In-tank transfer ethanol at Kinder Morgan-operated Argo was talked last at $2.42 gallon, down 3 cents from Friday's trade at $2.45 gallon. Trade sources said ethanol prices were pressured by lower Chicago Mercantile Exchange corn futures amid expectation for a large corn harvest later this year, with corn the feedstock for U.S. ethanol producers.

U.S. ethanol production is expected to continue rising during the third quarter, trade sources added.
