Chicago Spot Ethanol Prices Lifted by Tight Supply
Traders said ethanol supply was getting tight in key regional hubs, boosting prices in the Midwest and along the West Coast. One trader sold a cargo in the Chicago physical market under Rule 11 for shipment to the East Coast at $2.47 gallon, reflecting a 2.0-cent gain on the day, while others received offers for prompt delivered ethanol at the Argo terminal near Chicago at $2.47 and $2.48 a gallon. "The market is very tight," said one trader. "People are suddenly realizing that corn will be very expensive [going forward]."
