Firestone Ag Celebrates Young Producers
FFA Chapters Invited to Submit Rock the Crop Entries to Celebrate Young Producers
OMAHA (DTN) -- Firestone Ag is celebrating the 80-year anniversary of its partnership with National FFA with its third annual Rock the Crop Sweepstakes -- a contest open to any FFA chapter in the United States.
Chosen through a random drawing, the winning chapter will enjoy its own private, on-farm concert with Grammy-nominated country artist Hailey Whitters, based in Nashville, and a presentation from Firestone Ag field engineers about tire types, tire construction, choosing the right tire for the job and proper tractor set up to avoid overloading tires.
Firestone Ag, a business of Bridgestone, stated in a press release that this is the third Rock the Crop, following its first in 2022 that featured country artist Dillon Carmichael.
"FFA is honored to mark this milestone with Firestone Ag, especially as the brand continues to champion and engage our students in new ways," said Molly Ball, president of the National FFA Foundation and chief marketing officer of the National FFA Organization. "Hailey Whitters' passion for farming and agriculture combined with her drive and ambition align with our values and make her a fantastic partner for this program."
The entry deadline for the 2024 Rock the Crop Sweepstakes is June 6. Rules and instructions for entering can be found here: https://firestoneag.cmpgn.page/…
"Firestone has embraced a longstanding commitment to FFA that began with Harvey Firestone Jr., who spearheaded the Firestone family's belief in educating and supporting youth interested in agriculture, technology and leadership," said Merritt Gilbert, marketing director, integrated agriculture tire business, Firestone Ag. "As we mark this milestone for Firestone Ag and FFA, we're excited to share this fun and unique entertainment opportunity with young people who are interested and invested in agriculture."
Throughout the year, Firestone Ag plans to highlight the achievements of FFA members across the country through social media platforms, Gilbert said in the press release. Using the hashtag #FFAFridays, the company will showcase the hard work, learnings and accomplishments of FFA members on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
Additionally, the company is backing the New Century Farmer Conference, hosted by FFA on July 21-25 in Des Moines. Over five days, an elite group of FFA alumni will network and learn from industry experts on topics relevant to young producers. Applicants for the FFA conference have closed.
