Brazilian farm inspectors ended their two-week strike late Friday, lifting the threat to the free flow of grain and meat exports.

Members of the Brazilian Farm Customs Inspectors Union (ANFFA) voted to end the strike after the government agreed to its main demands on pay and career structure, but will remain ready to strike again if negotiations on smaller issues do not go satisfactorily, said a union spokesperson.

All grain exports require certificates issued by farm custom inspectors but the strike action did not significantly affect soybean and corn shipments as the document is only needs to be presented once the cargo reaches its destination.

Exporters will be relieved at the news as Brazil is expected to export record volumes of corn between September and February.
