DTN Weekly DDG Price Higher on Average
MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The DTN average price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 34 locations reporting for the week ended Aug. 11 was $231 per ton, up $2 versus one week ago. DDG prices were mixed this week but did find support from the rally in the soybean meal and higher corn prices most of the week. The DTN National Corn Index is 23 cents higher versus one week ago.
The Energy Information Administration (EIA) said Wednesday domestic ethanol plant production dropped 21,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 1.022 million bpd, 3.7% higher than the same week in 2021. Ethanol plant output averaged 1.030 million bpd during the four weeks ended Aug. 5, up 20,000 bpd versus the same four weeks a year earlier.

Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended Aug. 11 was 1.03%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 44.40%, and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $8.56, compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $10.95. DTN's estimates moved to utilizing September futures since July has gone off the board.
In its weekly DDGS export update, the U.S. Grains Council said: "Barge CIF NOLA DDGS values are up $4 metric ton (mt) for spot shipment and up $6 to $7/mt for October-December positions. FOB NOLA offers have followed the same trend with September offers up $3 and Q4 positions priced $7/mt above last week. Brokers indicate international demand is becoming active amid the soymeal rally and crop production worries in Europe. Offers for 40-foot containers to Southeast Asia are up $5 to $6/mt at $383 for Q4 shipment."
