RINs Trade Lower amid Profit-taking after EPA-inspired Rally
The value of Renewable Identification Numbers retreated in limited trade early Thursday. Traders booked profits after rallying a day prior after the Environmental Protection Agency released its proposal for blending requirements under the Renewable Fuel Standard for 2017 that was more than the market expected.
The 2016 D6 RINs, which satisfy the RFS's non-advanced nested category, traded at 84.0 cents, 83.0 cents and last at 79.5 cents today, down 2.5 cents on the day. The 2016 D4 RINs, which satisfy the biomass-based diesel category, traded at 86.0 cents and 83.5 cents, down 3.5 cents on the day.
