Spot Ethanol Prices under Pressure in Chicago, New York

Spot ethanol prices moved lower in New York and Chicago during a thinly traded early session Friday ahead of the Memorial Day holiday weekend on easing supply concerns, with midweek data showing higher domestic production, and on weaker corn and gasoline futures.

Prompt transfer delivered ethanol at Argo hub near Chicago traded at $1.57 per gallon, down 0.5 cents on the day, with June prices talked at $1.54 per gallon, down 2.0 cents. Chicago ethanol under Rule 11 traded at $1.60 per gallon, down 2.0 cents. New York Harbor May delivered ethanol barges was talked at a $1.60 to $1.68 per gallon bid/ask, down 2.0 cents.
