Best test on heifers 550 to 699 lbs 7.00 to 10.00 higher except 600 to 649 lbs not well compared, instances up to 15.00 higher on 650 to 699 lbs, 700 to 749 lbs and 850 to 899 lbs 5.00 to 7.00 higher, 750 to 849 lbs mostly steady on a narrow comparison. Good to very good demand for feeder cattle today. Quite a few loads and multiple loads of bigger, finishing type cattle and mostly packages of lighter grass and backgrounding types. These lighter cattle are still very sought after, however, this week's offering lacked the loads of stand out grass type cattle seen last week. Flesh varied on bigger cattle, but mostly moderate plus to heavy, with cattle being both home raised and backgrounded. A few consignments of fall calves with almost all of these coming off the cow. An active market seen for this offering. Some parts of the country received rain the beginning of the week but in small amounts, most areas are still very dry. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, April 30. --------------------------------------------------------------- FEEDER CATTLE --------------------------------------------------------------- HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 13 402-408 404 420-420 420 46 467-487 483 350-364 352.65 110 505-539 526 330-359 336.5 186 551-592 576 335-348 345.3 18 619-619 619 292-292 292 Unweaned 59 605-641 625 310-333 316.93 245 650-695 670 313-326 321.19 6 727-727 727 275-275 275 Unweaned 165 715-748 738 292-307 299.33 29 761-761 761 303-303 303 Replacement 325 770-798 782 277-296 284.84 29 800-803 802 290-293 291.03 Replacement 143 831-847 839 274.5-276 275.27 98 838-847 842 2460-2480 2469.44 Replacement 127 850-877 872 272-275 272.23 128 866-886 882 2480-2540 2527.11 Replacement 59 907-919 913 257.5-272.5 266.67 66 952-952 952 259.75-259.75 259.75 HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1-2 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 12 399-399 399 402-402 402 10 525-525 525 285-285 285 25 588-588 588 288-288 288 9 665-665 665 305-305 305 7 823-823 823 247-247 247 STEERS - Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 363 1006-1035 1018 265.25-273.75 270.64 STEERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 11 352-355 353 445-455 449.57 11 426-426 426 420-420 420 44 451-477 461 412-437.5 426.73 33 522-522 522 407-407 407 7 526-526 526 335-335 335 Unweaned 101 553-579 566 378-393 385.46 11 596-596 596 339-339 339 Unweaned 63 609-629 624 348-370 364.66 16 638-638 638 339-339 339 Unweaned 23 651-654 653 323-347 335.55 77 711-727 715 316-340 332.58 9 756-756 756 301-301 301 Fleshy 186 755-798 773 306.5-328 315.05 402 800-848 815 297-309.5 303.21 486 856-895 869 280-296.75 288.83 248 916-923 921 284.5-291.75 288.69 31 922-922 922 270.5-270.5 270.5 Fleshy 204 962-995 976 260-274.75 269.13 STEERS - Medium and Large 1-2 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 21 493-493 493 401-401 401

There is no ceiling on cash as packers aggressively purchase cattle. They were short-bought and may remain that way as they may buy only what they need. Hog futures were mixed at the close Thursday as traders seemed uncertain of which way the market would move in the near term.
