Some comparable weights 20.00 lower. Demand was mostly moderate. A lot of negative news in the cattle sector the last two weeks adding downward pressure to Wednesday market. The auctioneer chant a tick slower as they had to break the bids down to 1.00 and a lot of bids came in at .50 instead of the 2.50 to 5.00 bids a few weeks ago. Also, the feedlots traded live slaughter steers and heifers 7.00 to 8.00 lower at 218.00 and dressed sales sold 10.00 to 11.00 lower at mostly 345.00. With the feedlots trading in the red, most prospective buyers backed up their live auction bids. TREND: The trend in most active corn futures is revised to higher for now.

NONCOMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Noncommercial corn traders held a net-long futures position of 302,142 contracts as of August 18, and were net-buyers of 57,230 contracts during the CFTC reporting period as traders returned as avid buyers amid lower yield ideas following the August WASDE and mid-August Midwest crop tours.

COMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Commercial corn traders held a net-short position of 245,600 contracts as of August 18, and were net-sellers of 47,472 contracts through the CFTC reporting period. The livestock complex is trading mostly lower into midday Friday as it's simply been a disappointing week where not enough fundamental support has appeared. Some light cash cattle trade is developing in the South at $222, which is $3.00 lower than last week's weighted average.
