Heifers 500 to 549 lbs and 600 to 649 lbs 10.00 to 16.00 higher, 550 to 599 lbs not well compared, 650 to 699 lbs mostly steady, 700 to 749 lbs 3.00 to 6.00 higher. A large offering of loads and packages again this week. Very good demand for cattle suitable for grass or backgrounding programs, good to very good demand for finishing type cattle depending on flesh condition. Flesh condition similar to last week, from moderate to heavy, with some fill seen at times. One consignment of backgrounded cattle today with the rest being home raised, long time weaned and vaccinated. An active market with mostly order buyers and not as many farmer feeders in the seats this week. Temperatures have warmed up considerably and this nicer weather is expected to continue for the next week or more. CORN Strategies Snapshot

TREND: The trend for March corn is sideways for now.

NONCOMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Noncommercial corn traders held a net-short futures position of 34,698 contracts as of Feb. 3, and were net-sellers of 3,027 contracts during the CFTC reporting period after prices hit technical resistance the previous week.

COMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Commercial corn traders held a net-long position of 52,916 contracts as of Feb. 3, and were net-buyers of 225 contracts through the CFTC reporting period. The March 2026 contract is priced 8 1/2 cents lower than the May 2026 contract, slightly wider (more carry) through the week. National average corn basis firmed 2 cents through the week to 32 cents under the March board.

Cattle futures fell back substantially from their highs when the news broke that President Trump was to lower tariffs on beef from Argentina to boost imports. Futures held some gains due to higher cash.
