MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The DTN price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended Oct. 17 was slightly higher on average at $146 per ton versus one week ago. DDG prices overall were mixed but up $1 for the week on average, even as the cash corn price was lower and soybean meal prices were under pressure as well. The DTN National Average Corn Index was down 11 cents versus one week ago.

Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended Oct. 17 was 1.01%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 45.90% and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $5.41 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $6.70.

U.S. Grains Council in its weekly DDGS export market prices report showed as of Oct. 16, CIF NOLA barge price was steady at $179 metric ton (mt), FOB vessel Gulf price was down $9 at $186; rail delivered PNW was down $4 at $211, and rail delivered to California was down $3 at $211 mt.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.042 million bpd in the week ended Oct. 11, up 4,000 bpd week-on-week to a four-week high and 0.7% higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.022 million bpd was 8,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 985,000 bpd, up 6,000 bpd week-on-week while unchanged versus the same week last year. Four-week average output at 964,000 bpd was 3,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
