DTN Weekly DDG Price Lower on Average
MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The DTN price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended May 30 was down $1 on average versus one week ago at $163 per ton. The demise of the cash corn price has put some pressure on DDG prices, along with another week of higher plant production. The DTN National Average Corn Index was down 14 cents versus one week ago.
The Energy Information Administration on Wednesday reported overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.068 million bpd as of May 24, up 49,000 bpd week-on-week and 64,000 bpd, or 6% higher than in the same week last year. The four-week average output at 1.013 million bpd was 28,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.007 million bpd, up 43,000 bpd week-on-week and 58,000 bpd, or 5.8% higher than in the same week last year. The four-week average output at 960,000 bpd was 29,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.

Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended May 30 was 1.02%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 44.83 and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $6.04 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $7.65.
U.S. Grains Council in its weekly DDGS export market prices report showed May 29 CIF NOLA barge price was at $199 per metric ton, unchanged from last week and FOB vessel Gulf price was at $201, up $1 per metric ton. Rail delivered to the PNW was down $3 at $227 and rail delivered to California was at $181 per metric ton.
