Spot ethanol prices were higher in thin trade Monday, boosted by a rally for Chicago Board of Trade corn futures ahead of a USDA report on planted corn acreage.

Prompt delivered ethanol at the Argo supply hub in the Chicago market was talked at a $1.54 to $1.56 per gallon bid/ask spread, up 3.0 cents, while Chicago ethanol trade under Rule 11 for this week shipment was talked at a $1.51 to $1.55 per gallon bid/ask spread, up 3.0 cents. On the East Coast, ethanol barges for May shipment to New York Harbor was talked at a $1.605 to $1.615 per gallon bid/ask spread, up 2.0 cents on the day.
