Spot Ethanol Prices Lower in Chicago on Bearish Expectation

Spot ethanol prices were mixed in early afternoon trade Tuesday, with Chicago area prices trading slightly lower ahead of weekly data that's expected to show an increase in supply and lower demand.

Sources said prompt delivered ethanol at the Argo terminal near Chicago was talked at a $1.44 to $1.455 per gallon bid/ask, down 0.25 cents on the day. Chicago ethanol traded under Rule 11 for this week shipment traded at $1.465 early and then at $1.45 and $1.455 per gallon, unchanged on the day. In paper ethanol market, May swaps traded $1.465 per gallon, down 0.5 cents, while June swaps traded at $1.455 per gallon, down 0.5 cents.
