Spot Ethanol Prices Pressured Lower by Rising Supply

Spot ethanol prices eased a penny in Chicago and New York trade hubs on the back of lower corn and gasoline futures in thin trade. Traders expect weekly government data scheduled for release Wednesday to show another increase in domestic ethanol production for the week-ended Dec. 18, with output averaging 1.0 million bpd week prior.

Argo ethanol for prompt delivery was pegged at $1.39 per gallon, down a penny. Chicago ethanol traded under Rule 11 for prompt shipment was down 5.0 cents at a $1.36 to $1.39 per gallon bid/ask. A New York Harbor January barge traded at $1.47 per gallon, down 1.0 cent on the day.
