Growth in India's booming poultry industry has risen more than 15% yearly, but is slowing because of rising feed prices, according to an article by the U.S. Grains Council (http://bit.ly/…).

Despite growing consumer demand, growth in the country's poultry sector has slowed as small farmers battle high input costs and market volatility.

The council is striving to develop more collaboration between India and the U.S. by working with end-users to renew demand for U.S.-produced coarse grains and dried distillers grains with solubles.

The situation prompted the council to provide information to Indian end-users about less costly alternatives to corn and soybean meal, such as corn gluten meal and DDGS.

The council is helping Indian importers understand the value and potential use of these products, and assisting poultry producers to adopt more modern production and processing practices, as well as implementing hazard analysis and critical control points for food safety standards.

Although India has restrictions on importing corn gluten meal and DDGS into the country, it is expected to eventually become better integrated into the global grain supply chain.
