The U.S. Grains Council has partnered with USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service for the past four years to ensure a future market for U.S. dried distillers grains with solubles and corn gluten feed in Algeria, according to a news release on the Council's website (http://bit.ly/…).

The Council, FAS and Algerian partners have worked together to eliminate high taxes on corn and DDGS, as well as organizing educational programs for key Algerian feed companies on the benefits and use of U.S. corn and DDGS.

Also, the Council brought together Algerian feed millers and the Morocco Feed Millers Association to hear DDGS and CGF users talk about their experiences. This gave the Algerians a chance to ask question on use and procurement, as well as learning about the cost saving of using DDGS. One company discovered they could save roughly $1.4 million on 30,000 metric tons of feed by using DDGS.

According to the release, the Council hopes it can accomplish the first sale of DDGS and CGF in the future.
