Spot Ethanol Prices Retreat Early Wednesday on Supply Build
Spot ethanol prices were talked lower in the Chicago, New York Harbor and California markets after the Energy Information Administration reported that ethanol stocks rose by 100,000 barrels (bbl) to a 22.0 million bbl better-than-four-month high during the week-ended Nov. 24, while net refiner and blender inputs, a gauge for ethanol demand, increased 2,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 922,000 bpd, the highest blending rate since mid-October.
Prompt ethanol supply at Argo terminal in the Chicago market fell 1.5 cents to $1.34 gallon, while ethanol shipped this week under Rule 11 terms declined 1.5 cents to $1.33 gallon. December barged ethanol to the New York Harbor was talked 0.5 cent lower at $1.465 gallon. On the West Coast, northern California spot prices were seen at $1.52 gallon, down a penny.
