DTN Weekly DDG Price Slightly Lower on Average
MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The DTN spot price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended Oct. 16 was $145 per ton on average, down $1 versus one week ago.
DDG prices were mixed but slightly lower on average for the week, while the cash corn price was higher versus last week. Ethanol plant production was higher again so DDG supplies should be plentiful enough to meet any spot demand. The DTN National Average Corn Index was up 3 cents versus one week ago.
Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended Oct. 16 was 0.963%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 52.37% and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $5.37 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $5.83.

U.S. Grains Council, in its weekly distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) export market prices report, showed as of Oct. 16, CIF NOLA barge price was up $7 at $214 metric ton (mt); FOB vessel Gulf price was steady at $227 mt; rail delivered PNW was down $4 at $232; and rail delivered to California was down $2 at $224 mt. The Mississippi River at Memphis is at -8.17 feet below zero gauge and draft restrictions of 9'6" are in place. USCG also restricted traffic to one way up or down river at MM709 to MM711.
The Energy Information Administration reported on Wednesday for the week ended Oct. 10, overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.074 million barrels per day (bpd), up 3,000 bpd versus last week and 32,000 bpd, or 3%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.041 million bpd was 19,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.024 million bpd, down 1,000 bpd versus last week and 39,000 bpd, or 3.8%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 988,000 bpd was 24,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
