Spot Ethanol Prices Mixed as Supply/Demand Data Diverge

Spot ethanol prices were discussed mixed in early trade Wednesday after the Energy Information Administration released a report showing ethanol inventory remained unchanged while both plant production and blending demand declined during the week-ended Sept. 8.

Prompt supplied ethanol at the Argo terminal in the Chicago cash market traded at $1.585 per gallon and was last pegged at $1.60 per gallon, unchanged on the session. In the rail shipment market, ethanol traded under Rule 11 terms was pegged at $1.58 per gallon, up 1.5 cents. September barged ethanol at the New York Harbor was talked at $1.68 per gallon, up 2.0 cents, while October barges changed hands at a 9.5-cent premium to Chicago paper prices, a gain of 1.0 cent to $1.6425 gallon.
