Spot Ethanol Up as Storm-Related Supply Shortages Feared

Spot ethanol prices advanced 1.0 cent or more across the country's main trading hubs amid thin trade volume, climbing 1.75 cent in Chicago to $1.55 per gallon and 1.0 cent in Houston to $1.60 per gallon. This was because of concern over a potential supply shortage after both Union Pacific Railroad and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway suspended operations in Houston.

UP and BNSF are the main suppliers of ethanol to Gulf Coast consumers from production plants in the Midwest.
