Chicago, NYH Spot Ethanol Values Soften as Demand Eases

Spot ethanol prices moved lower Tuesday including in Chicago and New York Harbor markets on a dearth of buying interest for prompt supply, with one source saying, "There are too many sellers and not enough buyers in the New York Harbor."

September barges at the New York Harbor were rated at $1.54 per gallon, down 1.5 cents. A trade was done for October barges at 8.5 cents over October swaps in Chicago or $1.555 per gallon.

Prompt ethanol supply at the Argo hub in the Chicago market traded a penny down at $1.535 per gallon. Chicago ethanol traded under Rule 11 for this week shipment traded 2.0 cents down at $1.52 per gallon. Nebraska spot prices were talked at a $1.40 to $1.42 per gallon bid/ask spread.
