Spot ethanol prices moved higher early Friday amid short covering ahead of the weekend break and rising export demand. It comes a day after the Energy Information Administration showed a 2.3% jump in blender inputs for the week-ended Feb. 12, though inventories soared to a fresh record high.

Any February transfer ethanol at Argo supply hub near Chicago traded at $1.39 per gallon for a 1.0-cent session gain. New York Harbor February barged ethanol was seen at $1.45 per gallon while March barges were talked at $1.48 per gallon. Spot Houston prices are offered at $1.52 per gallon for a 3.0-cent gain.
