Spot ethanol prices extended higher Wednesday in Chicago and in New York after the Energy Information Administration reported ethanol stockpiles in the United States were drawn down 409,000 bbl to the lowest level this year while demand spiked to a record high of 910,000 bpd during the week-ended July 31.

Prompt delivered ethanol at the Argo terminal near Chicago was talked at $1.505 per gallon, up 1.0 cent, while August delivered ethanol barge at the New York Harbor was talked at $1.58 per gallon, up 1.0 cent.
