Spot Ethanol Prices Climb on Demand, Corn Futures Gains

Spot ethanol prices edged higher at midday Monday on the prospect for improved blending demand as spring season gets underway and on moderate gains for Chicago Board of Trade corn futures. Today and any-March transfer ethanol at the Argo supply terminal near Chicago traded at $1.475 per gallon, rising 1.5 cents on the day.

April transfer Argo ethanol changed hands at $1.48 per gallon, up 2.0 cents. New York Harbor March barges were valued 1.0 cents higher at $1.57 per gallon, while ethanol shipments to northern California added 1.5 cents on the day following talk at a $1.70 to $1.71 per gallon bid/ask.
