Spot Ethanol Prices Lower as Northeast Snowstorm Eases
Spot ethanol prices retreated as traders booked profits Tuesday since previously projected product shipment delays are likely to be minimal following a downgraded Northeast snowstorm.
The suspension of travel bans in New York and New Jersey will allow rail service to resume deliveries of ethanol to the New York Harbor, where there was excess supply even before the storm arrived.
Prompt Argo ethanol was talked at a $1.42 to $1.46 per gallon bid/ask for a 2-cent loss, with Harbor talked at a $1.50 to $1.56 per gallon bid/ask, down 5 cents. Northern California ethanol traded at $1.56 per gallon for a 4-cent loss.
