U.S. spot ethanol prices and values of ethanol compliance credits extended higher in early trade Tuesday on short covering on expectations federal data due Wednesday morning will lower supplies and increased demand.

Prompt in-tank transfer ethanol at the Argo hub near Chicago was assessed at about $2.64 per gallon, up 4.0 cents for the session. Ethanol traded under Rule 11 traded at $2.62 per gallon, up about 9 cents on the day, while July delivered New York Harbor ethanol traded at $2.70 per gallon, up 2.5 cents on the day. D6 Renewable Identification Numbers for 2013 traded at $1.35, up 3.0 cents on the day.
