Spot Ethanol Prices Mostly Ease on Concern Over Excess Supply

Spot ethanol prices were mixed early Monday, down in most hubs across the nation on weak demand and excess supply while edging up slightly along the West Coast in line with gains for corn futures on the Chicago Board of Trade.

A trade source said there was a fair amount of paper trades this morning, while another trader said ethanol for future rail delivery was trading at higher prices than prompt delivered ethanol. That suggests continuing concern about excess prompt supply.
