Relationships developed with key buyers at the U.S. Grains Council's annual Export Exchange are leading to strengthened trading relationships with Canada, especially in promoting U.S. dried distillers grains with solubles, according to a Council news release (http://bit.ly/…).

One of the attendees at last month's Exchange was Sebastien Lavoie of Quebec-based Agri-Marche, a company that operates five feed mills and a transload facility for all ingredients the company distributes throughout eastern Canada.

Lavoie said he was curious about U.S.-produced DDGS, and said the conference educated him on the potential of DDGS, as well as leading him to suppliers, shipping options and other valuable information.

The conference was very helpful, he said, especially information on the shift to low-oil, high protein DDGS that is changing the calculations for feed rations. Lavoie said it was valuable to have research on DDGS present in one place, saving him time in tracking down research results.

The Council has also provided funding for research that led to developing inclusion rates for various feed ingredients commonly used in Canada.
