USDA Nebraska Fdr Cattle Wkly Wtd Avg 03/23 09:45 AMS_1860 MARS Nebraska Weekly Livestock Auction Summary -, Livestock Weighted Average Report for 03/16/2026 - Final Summary This Week Last Reported Last Year ------------------------------------------------------------ Total Receipts: ------------------------------------------------------------ REPLACEMENT CATTLE 300 272 0 FEEDER CATTLE 6837 16093 6318 Compared to last week steers and heifers less than 600 lbs lightly tested. Steers over 600 lbs sold 2.00 to 4.00 higher and heifers from 600 to 800 lbs sold 5.00 to 10.00 lower. Demand was moderate to good on calves and feeders with good demand for bred cows and pairs. Some of the bred cattle are heading out of state with several lots getting purchased on the internet. Feedlot trade was slow to transpire and finally kicked off on Friday with live and dressed sales steady on the week at 235.00 and 372.00 respectively. The biggest wildfire in the state history is finally contained with a total of 642,029 acres burned. Several thousand cattle will be displaced but it's anyone guess on the exact numbers. Plus, it will be several years before the sandhills pastures in that area will be grazeable. Very slow, all day rains would be very beneficial to the burned grass area within this state. Around 823,600 grass land acres in 4 big fires last couple of weeks plus several acres from smaller grass fires occurred last week too but didn't make the "watch duty" app calculations. Calendar flipped to spring on Friday, the 20th, hopefully the spring rains will prevail soon. Last year it was roughly the third week in May before the rains came and the grass was bountiful. Ample carry over on hay supplies this spring has been very helpful with several people donating semi loads of hay to the ranchers in the burned areas. --------------------------------------------------------------- REPLACEMENT CATTLE --------------------------------------------------------------- BRED COWS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Unit/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 26 1144-1461 1285 3250-3900 3678.52 17 1341-1505 1368 2750-2900 2787.29 Broken Mouth 43 1177-1484 1373 2750-3700 3330.58 BRED COWS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Unit/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 40 998-1412 1133 4000-4300 4210.43 26 1336-1686 1443 3400-3900 3698.61 27 1420-1483 1481 2700-3300 3278.69 Broken Mouth 9 1395-1683 1541 3000-3500 3223.64 BRED HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Unit/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 4 977-977 977 3400-3400 3400 BRED HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Unit/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 23 1074-1199 1161 3900-4500 4331.07 52 905-974 931 3300-4150 3997.76 COW-CALF PAIRS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Unit/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 2 1607-1607 1607 4400-4400 4400 T1 COW-CALF PAIRS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Unit/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 2 1455-1455 1455 4300-4300 4300 O COW-CALF PAIRS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Unit/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 1 1410-1410 1410 3600-3600 3600 O 1 1750-1750 1750 3900-3900 3900 O 2 997-997 997 4050-4050 4050 O HEIFER PAIRS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Unit/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 12 1030-1100 1036 3850-5100 4989.38 O --------------------------------------------------------------- FEEDER CATTLE --------------------------------------------------------------- BULLS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Unit/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 20 687-687 687 362.5-362.5 362.5 Unweaned 8 842-842 842 320-320 320 HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Unit/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 3 330-330 330 560-560 560 18 350-368 362 512.5-560 538.7 38 460-498 465 475-503 498.52 7 468-468 468 473-473 473 Unweaned 119 500-524 513 430-471 465.34 8 554-554 554 432.5-432.5 432.5 Unweaned 158 550-597 576 386-446 426.66 237 600-638 614 396-431 412.06 15 651-661 654 380-387.5 384.97 Unweaned 209 655-694 682 353-379 364.36 30 694-694 694 2750-2750 2750 Replacement 171 700-749 719 345-373.5 359.68 123 713-747 724 2885-3050 2938.24 Replacement 333 753-793 770 335-349.5 343.88 65 797-797 797 3135-3135 3135 Replacement 68 802-832 806 2875-3135 3103.41 Replacement 274 800-849 819 318.5-334.5 328.23 336 860-897 876 312-338 326.02 264 905-944 916 309.5-331 324.16 HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1-2 (Per Unit/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 3 355-355 355 450-450 450 17 486-492 489 441-450 445.21 24 538-546 541 440-445 443.37 5 593-593 593 411-411 411 10 631-647 636 375-379 377.78 18 825-825 825 312-312 312 STEERS - Large 1 (Per Unit/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 12 1066-1066 1066 298-298 298 45 1107-1107 1107 302.5-302.5 302.5 STEERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Unit/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 112 1001-1020 1011 320-324.75 322.4 4 399-399 399 590-590 590 13 412-418 416 527.5-570 543.7 23 462-490 478 477-529 520.63 80 524-537 533 487.5-504 499.44 198 568-599 590 455-484 476.89 339 603-633 621 437-477.5 463.55 252 662-694 674 375-439 427.65 362 705-737 728 395-429 405.71 258 752-789 768 373.5-397.75 383.94 15 807-836 817 341-348 343.39 Fleshy 216 801-848 821 357-374 366.53 690 855-898 871 343-363.25 353.09 341 902-944 918 321-345.5 340.78 295 962-998 980 319.5-329 325.01 29 997-997 997 311-311 311 Fleshy STEERS - Medium and Large 1-2 (Per Unit/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 11 375-375 375 567.5-567.5 567.5 Thin Fleshed 6 434-434 434 546-546 546 Thin Fleshed 6 435-435 435 510-510 510 5 440-440 440 502-502 502 Unweaned 29 487-491 489 501-501 501 7 530-530 530 439-439 439 Unweaned 28 520-545 538 472-483 478.78 11 567-567 567 423-423 423 Unweaned 55 550-587 575 430-448 443.04 62 614-640 632 402.5-431 416.98 6 682-682 682 361-361 361 Unweaned 17 679-686 683 390-401 396.5 92 704-748 729 366-390 381.33 105 780-798 782 357-371 359.07 25 813-840 834 335-341.25 339.79 16 867-888 879 335-341.5 338.69

AgHost Livestock Close

Livestock futures started the Thursday session with very limited interest, allowing prices to hold limited gains in cattle futures through early hours of trade, but softness developed in feeder cattle and lean hog trade during late morning trade.
