USDA Herreid, SD Wtd Averages 03/20 15:20 AMS_2024 MARS Herreid Livestock Market - Herreid, SD Herreid Livestock Market-Herreid,SD Livestock Weighted Average Report for 03/20/2026 - Final Auction This Week Last Reported Last Year ------------------------------------------------------------ Total Receipts: ------------------------------------------------------------ FEEDER CATTLE 3150 1980 3153 Compared to last week: best test on steers 750 to 849 lbs mostly steady on a narrow comparison and heifers not well compared. A larger offering this week with several strings of backgrounded steers and loads and packages of home raised cattle in town. Moderate to good demand for cattle today depending on flesh condition. Quite a bit of flesh and some tag at times, especially on cattle from backgrounding yards. Quality ranged from plain to attractive. An active market with the usual crowd of order buyers in the seats. Recent uncertainty on the futures complex has put a little pressure on the market, however, buyers seemed slightly less apprehensive than last week. Big swings in weather this week with a blizzard over the weekend to temps in the 60's today, yard conditions are muddy once again. Next feeder cattle sale is Friday, March 27. --------------------------------------------------------------- FEEDER CATTLE --------------------------------------------------------------- HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 13 366-366 366 515-515 515 5 400-400 400 510-510 510 21 492-494 493 470-475 471.43 123 504-525 513 455-475 464.22 194 604-647 629 397-425 411.69 28 687-687 687 349-349 349 Fleshy 88 718-718 718 381-381 381 157 760-777 768 348-365 356.32 12 952-952 952 311-311 311 HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1-2 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 4 538-538 538 420-420 420 8 769-769 769 338-338 338 STEERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 7 331-331 331 620-620 620 21 418-418 418 600-600 600 11 480-480 480 523-523 523 32 503-527 511 510-531 523.56 146 554-596 567 470-501 487.67 66 628-633 631 442-444 443.37 222 655-691 671 426-445 433.29 90 700-709 706 409.5-414 411.26 25 748-748 748 369-369 369 Fleshy 161 754-782 776 372.5-385 379.92 167 801-849 830 356-366.25 364.78 716 850-898 869 341-367 359.05 25 916-932 924 334-340.5 337.41 511 955-984 964 323-332.25 328.11 STEERS - Medium and Large 1-2 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 4 433-433 433 525-525 525
