USDA South Dakota Weekly Auction Summary

USDA South Dakota Weekly Auction Summary 06/02 07:00 AMS_2027 MARS South Dakota Weekly Cattle Auction Summary -, Livestock Weighted Average Report for 05/26/2025 - Final Summary This Week Last Reported Last Year ------------------------------------------------------------ Total Receipts: ------------------------------------------------------------ SLAUGHTER CATTLE 590 771 505 FEEDER CATTLE 3974 11264 6890 Compared to last week: Feeder steers steady to 4.00 higher, heifers 3.00 to 8.00 higher, instances to 10.00 higher. Very good demand for all weights of steers and heifers. A lighter offering of feeder cattle as turnout time has arrived and yearlings are on grass. Feedyard backgrounded yearlings are the majority of offerings now, flesh conditions are very important as cattle feeders try to buy cattle that will gain the most efficiently. Cash fed cattle set another new record, historical high price this week topping at 237.00. Good rains have come to the state, this was desperately needed by cattle producers or they would have had to send cow/calf pairs to town. Corn is planted and growing and looking good. --------------------------------------------------------------- SLAUGHTER CATTLE --------------------------------------------------------------- DAIRY STEERS - Choice 2-3 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price Dressing 4 1539-1539 1539 189-189 189 Average DAIRY/BEEF HEIFERS - Choice 2-4 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price Dressing 17 1383-1442 1408 230.5-231 230.85 Average 12 1410-1410 1410 234.5-234.5 234.5 Average Certified Prgms DAIRY/BEEF STEERS - Choice 2-3 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price Dressing 19 1470-1485 1476 233.5-234 233.71 Average Certified Prgms 16 1495-1508 1504 232-232 232 Average HEIFERS - Choice 2-4 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price Dressing 31 1378-1460 1399 230-230 230 Average 20 1369-1550 1441 229-231 229.64 Average Certified Prgms HEIFERS - Choice 4-5 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price Dressing 11 1626-1626 1626 234-234 234 Average Certified Prgms 3 1720-1720 1720 228-228 228 Average STEERS - Choice 2-3 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price Dressing 16 1484-1573 1509 229.5-232 231.13 Average STEERS - Choice 3-4 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price Dressing 25 1530-1565 1551 229.5-231 230.41 Average 35 1511-1788 1618 231.5-234 232.55 Average Certified Prgms --------------------------------------------------------------- FEEDER CATTLE --------------------------------------------------------------- HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 5 449-449 449 400-400 400 15 478-478 478 373-373 373 22 539-549 546 336-343 339.88 59 552-599 576 340-349 344.08 143 602-641 618 318-335 324.25 51 664-694 687 310-319 316 61 703-742 733 303-316 307.81 128 753-786 772 283-304 292.7 96 814-830 819 300-300.5 300.35 Replacement 338 816-849 831 281-297.5 290.88 214 884-895 891 275.5-291.5 288.81 186 900-940 924 257-287 275.44 HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1-2 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 11 436-436 436 347.5-347.5 347.5 4 540-540 540 335-335 335 STEERS - Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 88 1007-1031 1014 265.5-272.5 270.32 72 1080-1094 1086 249-260.5 254.4 STEERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 11 490-490 490 360-360 360 Unweaned 25 564-569 565 380-383 382.28 40 611-620 615 350-374 367.53 18 662-671 667 350-356 353.02 12 693-693 693 325.5-325.5 325.5 Fleshy 161 707-742 722 327-349 341.71 356 751-792 769 320-339 330.49 223 808-849 832 297-314 303.44 393 862-899 889 292.75-303 298.14 138 916-937 926 289-293.75 291.04 575 954-997 972 273.75-288.75 279.24 STEERS - Medium and Large 1-2 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 9 617-617 617 340-340 340 6 735-735 735 309-309 309 29 774-788 780 307-308 307.58
