Compared to last week steers less than 600 lbs sold 10.00 higher and heifers 
less than 600 lbs sold 3.00 to 8.00 higher. Steers and heifers over 600 lbs 
sold unevenly steady throughout the week. Slaughter steers and heifers sold 
3.00 to 4.00 lower in early week trading. Slaughter cows sold 1.00 lower and 
bull 5.00 lower. Demand was moderate to good on another week of heavy 
offerings. Some heifers getting commented as replacements with several groups 
not getting commented on top of different weights are more than likely heading 
back to the breeding pens this summer.  Early week feedlot trade through the 
auctions saw a price decline but country trade on Friday was steady with last 
week at 232.00 live.

CORN Strategies Snapshot

TREND: The trend for March corn is sideways for now.

NONCOMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Noncommercial corn traders held a net-short futures position of 51,704 contracts as of Jan. 20 and were net-sellers of 18,281 contracts during the CFTC reporting period following a bearish surprise in the Crop Production and WASDE reports released by USDA on Jan. 12.

COMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Commercial corn traders held a net-long position of 68,044 contracts as of Jan. 20 and were net-buyers of 19,121 contracts through the CFTC reporting period. The March 2026 contract is priced 7 3/4 cents lower than the May 2026 contract, mostly steady through the week. National average corn basis firmed a penny through the week to 35 cents under the March board.
