Pierre Livestock Auction-Fort Pierre,SD Livestock Weighted Average Report for 01/30/2026 - Final Auction This Week Last Reported Last Year ------------------------------------------------------------ Total Receipts: ------------------------------------------------------------ FEEDER CATTLE 4313 3041 4613 Compared to last week: Steers from 600 lbs to 649 lbs were 8.00 to 10.00 lower on limited numbers, steers from 650 lbs to 799 lbs were 4.00 to 10.00 higher instances of 12.00 higher, steers from 800 lbs to 899 lbs were generally 3.00 to 5.00 lower, Heifers from 500 lbs to 599 lbs were 3.00 to 4.00 higher, No other comparisons available. Very good demand for todays large offering of feeder cattle that consisted of several consignment offering multiple loads in the same sort, plenty of part loads and packages available as well. Most cattle were long time weaned, fully vaccinated and attractive for quality. Flesh conditions ranged from light fleshed hay fed cattle to moderate plus back grounded cattle. Farmer feeders, order buyers and internet buyers made for an active market as cattle feeders try to maintain some inventory. Semi-annual cattle inventory report showered a beef cow herd smaller than a year ago, with heifer retention showing a less than 1% increase. No sale next week due to the Black Hills Stock Show. CORN Strategies Snapshot

TREND: The trend for March corn is sideways for now.

NONCOMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Noncommercial corn traders held a net-short futures position of 34,698 contracts as of Feb. 3, and were net-sellers of 3,027 contracts during the CFTC reporting period after prices hit technical resistance the previous week.

COMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Commercial corn traders held a net-long position of 52,916 contracts as of Feb. 3, and were net-buyers of 225 contracts through the CFTC reporting period. The March 2026 contract is priced 8 1/2 cents lower than the May 2026 contract, slightly wider (more carry) through the week. National average corn basis firmed 2 cents through the week to 32 cents under the March board.

The livestock complex closed mixed, with the cattle contracts finding some mild support, while the lean hog complex faced some pushback in its nearby contracts. New showlists are higher in Texas and Kansas, but mostly steady in Nebraska/Colorado.
