USDA Nebraska Fdr Cattle Wkly Wtd Avg 08/31 10:30 AMS_1860 MARS Nebraska Weekly Livestock Auction Summary -, Livestock Weighted Average Report for 08/24/2026 - Final Summary This Week Last Reported Last Year ------------------------------------------------------------ Total Receipts: ------------------------------------------------------------ FEEDER CATTLE 8007 8336 3134 Compared to last week, 7 and 9 weight steers sold 2.00 lower, 8 weight steers sold 8.00 lower, 1000-1050 weight steers sold 6.00 lower. Heifers from 600 to 700 lbs sold steady, 7 weights sold 1.00 lower, 8 weights sold 10.00 lower with 9 weights trading 2.00 lower. Demand was moderate to instance good. Bulk of the receipts were yearling weight cattle with some out of grow yards. Bidding at area auctions a little slower paced than recent weeks. The auctioneers asked for .50 and 1.00 bids most of the time instead of the 2.50 to 5.00 bids when the market was ticking upward earlier this summer. Few, gloomy faces from the sellers as some yearling cattle might have been getting close to the red mark, something a yearling seller hasn't faced in several years. Area feedlots would be selling slaughter most negotiated cash steers and heifers at a lost. Live sales sold 4.00 to 7.00 lower from 218.00 to 222.00 and dressed sales sold 9.00 to 13.00 lower from 342.00 to 345.00. The higher live prices came at the week's close as packers were still looking for some inventory. --------------------------------------------------------------- FEEDER CATTLE --------------------------------------------------------------- HEIFERS - Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 192 1004-1048 1026 282.5-303 294.7 29 1037-1037 1037 273-273 273 Fleshy 6 1050-1050 1050 275-275 275 HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 8 1079-1079 1079 269-269 269 5 530-530 530 355-355 355 59 579-585 583 332-396 381.83 30 587-587 587 374.5-374.5 374.5 Unweaned 61 600-640 626 331-355 348.34 209 650-695 684 336-402.5 368.8 12 721-721 721 331-331 331 Fleshy 87 702-748 725 328-344.5 336.58 8 769-769 769 312.5-312.5 312.5 Fleshy 8 769-769 769 312.5-312.5 312.5 Fleshy 110 778-778 778 333.25-333.25 333.25 Spayed 245 801-849 835 311-337.5 327.08 62 834-845 836 286.5-296 293.99 Fleshy 466 855-896 867 282-332 316.05 160 851-888 868 282-299 291.65 Fleshy 111 889-889 889 322.25-322.25 322.25 Spayed 477 900-947 920 281.25-313.5 305.1 132 907-944 930 274.5-292.5 287.23 Fleshy 88 968-968 968 281-281 281 Fleshy 100 952-988 974 263.5-297 281.52 HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1-2 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 6 389-389 389 429-429 429 7 447-447 447 435-435 435 12 491-491 491 366-366 366 44 502-532 518 372.5-387.5 379.44 5 571-571 571 360-360 360 6 648-648 648 321-321 321 14 811-820 816 294-295 294.43 8 922-922 922 270-270 270 STEERS - Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 437 1004-1034 1013 297-331 314.27 153 1066-1066 1066 311.25-311.25 311.25 STEERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 31 1020-1020 1020 288.85-288.85 288.85 17 531-531 531 430-430 430 29 571-571 571 414-414 414 Unweaned 95 654-677 666 371-382 374.84 62 680-680 680 377.5-377.5 377.5 Unweaned 201 717-744 736 351-379 367.7 156 770-798 792 348-373 353.87 674 810-846 829 327.5-354.5 344.71 422 851-896 869 314-341 331.92 1215 902-949 923 307-344 328.31 9 948-948 948 303-303 303 Fleshy 451 950-997 982 300-333 320.38 STEERS - Medium and Large 1-2 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 7 475-475 475 440-440 440 21 526-533 528 405-427 410.29 5 559-559 559 422.5-422.5 422.5 36 662-696 671 345-347.5 346.78 8 773-773 773 340-340 340 6 990-990 990 282-282 282

DTN AgHost Midday Livestock Comments

Livestock futures have remained generally quiet early Friday morning, with increased focus on the afternoon release of the cattle on feed report. Although limited additional cash market activity is expected to be seen until late afternoon, the early movement of steady price levels from last week's levels may set the overall trend of the market for the week.
