Heifers less than 600 lbs sold 3.00 to 4.00 higher, 6 weights sold 10.00 higher, 700 to 900 lbs sold 1.00 to 2.00 higher and over 900 lbs sold 10.00 on a very thin test. Demand was mostly good, with very good demand for replacement heifers and for bred heifers and cows. Another week of several buyers looking for replacement heifers. Some are buying average quality heifers with other seeking the top of the shelf heifers. Several of the prospective heifers will be developed and sold as bred females last of this year and into 2027. Feedlots traded live sales unevenly steady from 238.00 to 241.00 and dressed sales sold 3.00 higher at 378.00. Hay market remains mostly slow with a decent amount of hay sitting around the state. Last year the market saw an sharp upward tick in May before the late spring rains arrived. CORN Strategies Snapshot

TREND: The trend for March corn is sideways for now.

NONCOMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Noncommercial corn traders held a net-short futures position of 34,698 contracts as of Feb. 3, and were net-sellers of 3,027 contracts during the CFTC reporting period after prices hit technical resistance the previous week.

COMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Commercial corn traders held a net-long position of 52,916 contracts as of Feb. 3, and were net-buyers of 225 contracts through the CFTC reporting period. The March 2026 contract is priced 8 1/2 cents lower than the May 2026 contract, slightly wider (more carry) through the week. National average corn basis firmed 2 cents through the week to 32 cents under the March board.

The livestock complex is mixed into Tuesday's noon hour as the cattle contracts are trading sideways, but the lean hog contracts are mostly lower. Still no cash cattle trade has developed and won't likely until Thursday or Friday.
