USDA Nebraska Fdr Cattle Wkly Wtd Avg 05/11 10:00 AMS_1860 MARS Nebraska Weekly Livestock Auction Summary -, Livestock Weighted Average Report for 05/04/2026 - Final Summary This Week Last Reported Last Year ------------------------------------------------------------ Total Receipts: ------------------------------------------------------------ FEEDER CATTLE 13010 9897 9597 Compared to last week steers less than 700 lbs sold 8.00 to 15.00 higher and over 700 lbs sold 20.00 higher. Heifers less than 600 lbs sold 25.00 higher, 600 to 800 lbs sold 10.00 higher and over 800 lbs sold steady to 1.00 higher. Demand was good to instances very good for calves and feeder cattle. Record breaking prices at some of the feeder cattle auctions this week. Valentine Livestock sold a flat 8 weight steers on average at 415.11 with the top price at 416.75. Unbelievable! Tight supplies on feeder cattle along with a very good slaughter cattle market in the last couple of weeks have spurred buyers into reinvesting into feedlot replacements. Like a broken record player repeating or skipping back to the same place on another week talking about the drought situation in the state. More than likely one would have to find an old timer in a nursing home to see if they can remember a time this dry, the dirty 30's come to the minds of some. With this dryness and the recent fires in the Sandhills some of the receipts this week would normally be kicked out to summer range and sold on a summer video or livestock auction sale. Second week in a row of record prices for negotiated cash feedlot cattle!! Live sales were 3.50 to 4.00 higher from 258.00 to 260.50 and dressed sales sold 2.00 to 5.00 higher from 402.00 to 405.00. --------------------------------------------------------------- FEEDER CATTLE --------------------------------------------------------------- BULLS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 8 612-612 612 440-440 440 HEIFERS - Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 5 1065-1065 1065 290-290 290 HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 12 339-339 339 625-625 625 23 350-395 384 520-555 528.36 100 434-446 438 515-570 526.16 186 450-498 474 440-567.5 532.91 496 509-548 529 454-517.5 488.53 5 545-545 545 447.5-447.5 447.5 Spayed 598 552-595 578 435-487.5 465.06 387 603-634 620 413-481 437.45 50 613-636 623 480-483 481.29 Fancy 61 665-665 665 471-471 471 Replacement 82 664-689 674 379-397 387.26 Spayed 437 659-694 675 372.5-457.5 408.54 272 700-720 703 387.5-416 395.85 77 747-747 747 382-382 382 Spayed 17 759-759 759 415-415 415 Replacement 84 771-771 771 380.5-380.5 380.5 Spayed 240 750-796 781 343.5-375 356.22 53 805-810 807 363-370 366.56 Replacement 61 809-840 836 344-345 344.13 364 863-893 873 335.5-361 344.93 5 968-968 968 305-305 305 HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1-2 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 7 418-418 418 515-515 515 26 471-492 478 487.5-502.5 492.84 56 528-543 538 410-487.5 451.76 20 589-589 589 452.5-452.5 452.5 50 610-644 624 365-430 410.93 51 674-696 684 390-405 398.12 32 715-740 735 377.5-385 379.1 19 783-783 783 325-325 325 11 822-848 834 320-339 328.78 11 877-877 877 319-319 319 STEERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 86 1005-1018 1010 327.5-330 329.12 10 375-375 375 640-640 640 11 400-400 400 585-585 585 Thin Fleshed 46 415-447 435 550-620 588.67 186 453-496 478 520-610 574.9 503 511-548 529 480-571 535.44 105 563-563 563 537-537 537 Thin Fleshed 96 567-567 567 544-544 544 Fancy 704 551-598 581 475-534 506.68 45 613-613 613 466-466 466 Unweaned 755 607-649 635 410-497 473.23 184 646-646 646 500-500 500 Fancy 530 650-693 677 422-505 448.02 595 710-743 726 388-449 437.22 31 754-754 754 390-390 390 Fleshy 287 751-796 762 382.5-423 403.15 1045 800-835 814 372-416.75 403.97 558 859-898 888 328-379 369.68 541 902-945 926 340-373.75 368.86 242 953-974 963 332.5-361 342.74 STEERS - Medium and Large 1-2 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 42 451-492 470 520-570 552.33 64 525-544 538 449-541 514.48 55 587-597 595 444-500 475.48 10 648-648 648 445-445 445 91 661-697 684 385-436 424.84 44 720-737 723 383-416 405.99 30 750-798 766 355-392 375.21 68 809-836 829 363-387 380.81 8 879-879 879 322.5-322.5 322.5

AgHost Livestock Close

The livestock complex ended the day mixed, with the cattle contracts able to rally mildly through the day's end, while the lean hog contracts continue to struggle. Still no cash cattle trade has developed.
