Pierre Livestock Auction-Fort Pierre,SD Livestock Weighted Average Report for 11/21/2025 - Final Auction This Week Last Reported Last Year ------------------------------------------------------------ Total Receipts: ------------------------------------------------------------ FEEDER CATTLE 6500 7633 5907 Compared to last week: steer calves from 400 lbs to 499 lbs were steady to 2.00 higher, steers from 500 lbs to 549 lbs were 8.00 to 10.00 lower, steers from 550 lbs to 599 lbs were 2.00 to 4.00 higher, steers from 600 lbs to 699 lbs were 10.00 to 20.00 lower, heifer calves from 450 lbs to 499 lbs were 2.00 to 4.00 higher, heifers from 500 lbs to 549 lbs were 10.00 to 15.00 lower, heifers from 550 lbs to 599 lbs were 10.00 to 12.00 higher, heifers from 600 lbs to 649 lbs were steady. No caparisons on yearlings due to limited numbers. A big run of cattle for today sale with several consignments of yearlings that were offered in load lots, up to 9 loads per consignment. Several packages of tested open heifers were available as well. Yearling were light to medium flesh, mostly off grass and generally attractive for quality. An active market on the yearlings and they were met with moderate demand. Moderate to good demand for todays offering of calves, a few consignments of weaned calves, otherwise calves were right off the cow, most had been fully vaccinated and were attractive for quality. Usual crowd of order buyers competing with internet buyers made for an active market. Several strings of calves today, up to 1200 per consignment offered buyers the opportunity to put multiple loads together. There were plenty of part loads and packages available today as well. Next feeder sale is scheduled for Friday, December 5, 2025. TREND: The trend for December corn is sideways for now.

NONCOMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Noncommercial corn traders held a net-short futures position of 92,353 contracts as of Oct. 7, an increase of 11,046 contracts during the CFTC reporting period as traders had sold ahead of the peak of U.S. corn harvest.

COMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Commercial corn traders held a net-long position of 117,716 contracts as of Oct. 7, the most recent CFTC data. The December 2025 contract is priced 12 cents lower than the March 2026 contract, a spread that narrowed over the week, tying the firmest close since April. The livestock complex was granted some additional support ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, as most of the contracts closed higher. Some light cash cattle trade developed, but prices held mostly steady with Tuesday's business.
