TREND: The trend for December corn is revised to sideways.
NONCOMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Noncommercial corn traders held a net-short futures position of 36,169 contracts as of Sept. 16, a decrease of 18,075 contracts during the CFTC reporting period as traders continued their seasonal tendency to shift to buying over August and September.
COMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Commercial corn traders held a net-long position of 68,373 contracts as of Sept. 16, a decrease of 17,617 contracts, week-over-week. The December 2025 contract is priced 17 1/2 cents lower than the March 2026 contract, a spread that widened slightly through the week following the USDA's production estimate increase in last week's WASDE report. All in all, Friday was a winning day for the livestock contracts, as traders allowed the contracts to close mildly stronger. The week's fed cash cattle trade didn't amount to much, but some more trade could develop late Friday afternoon.
