USDA South Dakota Weekly Auction Summary

USDA South Dakota Weekly Auction Summary 04/06 08:20 AMS_2027 MARS South Dakota Weekly Cattle Auction Summary -, Livestock Weighted Average Report for 03/30/2026 - Final Summary This Week Last Reported Last Year ------------------------------------------------------------ Total Receipts: ------------------------------------------------------------ SLAUGHTER CATTLE 1113 1206 504 FEEDER CATTLE 8602 26617 4496 Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers steady to firm in narrow comparisons. With the Easter week, and a winter storm at the end of the week, many auctions did not host a feeder cattle auction. Very good demand for all weights of steers and heifers. As the cattle futures contracts continued to rise, so did cattle producers optimism that the fat cattle market would improve. Rain and snow across the region bringing desperately needed moisture to many areas, but not all. --------------------------------------------------------------- SLAUGHTER CATTLE --------------------------------------------------------------- BEEF/DAIRY HEIFERS - Choice 2-3 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price Dressing 57 1353-1471 1384 235-238 235.84 Average BEEF/DAIRY STEERS - Choice 2-3 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price Dressing 44 1379-1754 1639 236-239 237.69 Average HEIFERS - Choice 2-4 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price Dressing 33 1420-1562 1464 245-250 248.89 Average Certified Prgms 354 1310-1599 1506 238.5-246.5 240.99 Average STEERS - Choice 2-3 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price Dressing 16 1424-1448 1438 238.5-244 241.62 Average STEERS - Choice 3-4 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price Dressing 59 1505-1584 1555 243-250 247.21 Average Certified Prgms 56 1512-1585 1564 240-245.25 241.54 Average 91 1638-1754 1732 237.5-245.5 239.44 Average Heavy Weight --------------------------------------------------------------- FEEDER CATTLE --------------------------------------------------------------- BULLS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 4 540-540 540 455-455 455 3 680-680 680 385-385 385 HEIFERS - Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 5 1071-1071 1071 280-280 280 HEIFERS - Medium 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 4 333-333 333 475-475 475 4 418-418 418 450-450 450 7 509-509 509 417.5-417.5 417.5 HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 11 341-341 341 545-545 545 7 373-390 380 525-525 525 13 428-433 431 480-570 542.53 50 460-477 466 485-510 496.99 4 499-499 499 400-400 400 Fleshy 77 508-543 521 425-475 459 151 555-599 578 410-465 426.09 214 601-649 621 382.5-425 399.06 270 652-694 668 365-408 388.59 6 720-720 720 335-335 335 Fleshy 435 700-744 727 340-386 367.45 308 751-790 774 340-375.5 353.77 44 789-789 789 2885-2885 2885 Replacement 76 801-836 807 2875-2950 2888.29 Replacement 166 817-847 827 310-354 331.19 9 843-843 843 320-320 320 Fleshy 195 853-880 859 2925-3300 3195.84 Replacement 284 851-892 876 315-333 327.13 330 907-949 937 307-314.75 309.48 7 960-960 960 303-303 303 17 977-977 977 281-281 281 Fleshy HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1-2 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 22 410-442 425 447.5-465 460.33 12 542-548 545 425-426 425.5 10 560-560 560 375-375 375 53 620-634 630 350-384 359.47 6 679-679 679 354-354 354 STEERS - Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 764 1001-1044 1023 313-334.25 327.22 151 1070-1070 1070 314-314 314 46 1100-1118 1111 296-312 306.44 16 1266-1266 1266 260-260 260 Fleshy 20 651-651 651 401-401 401 STEERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 8 332-332 332 585-585 585 33 400-445 419 590-625 601.55 59 472-497 485 515-570 558.03 92 503-541 518 515-550 532.55 40 557-597 572 450-507.5 492.05 238 602-649 630 422.5-470 447.34 302 652-699 679 407-446 423.48 289 701-748 722 392.5-424 409.51 513 756-799 778 366-398 384.19 228 801-848 819 355-389 376.09 554 850-896 875 340.5-367.5 358.15 19 913-921 916 322-325 323.11 Fleshy 679 906-941 925 335-356.25 343.81 902 951-999 965 318.5-347.5 334.04 29 975-996 984 310-318.5 314.94 Fleshy STEERS - Medium and Large 1-2 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 5 343-343 343 540-540 540 5 436-436 436 540-540 540 24 508-547 531 480-495 485.98 7 649-649 649 405-405 405 66 650-698 664 387.5-399 393.16 21 742-742 742 376-376 376 7 820-820 820 345-345 345
