USDA Hub City Livestock Wtd Averages 05/07 17:35 AMS_2020 MARS Hub City Livestock Auction - Aberdeen, SD Hub City Livestock Auction-Aberdeen,SD Livestock Weighted Average Report for 05/07/2025 - Final Auction This Week Last Reported Last Year ------------------------------------------------------------ Total Receipts: ------------------------------------------------------------ FEEDER CATTLE 5699 3950 2800 Compared to last week: best test on steers 800 to 849 steady to 3.00 higher, 850 to 999 lbs 3.00 to 7.00 higher, 1000 to 1049 lbs mostly steady. Heifers not well tested today for comparison. A large offering this week featuring many strings and loads of finishing type cattle, mostly bought and backgrounded but a few of these were home raised also. Good to very good demand depending on flesh condition as some cattle carried quite a bit of flesh. A handful of loads and many packages of light backgrounding and grass type cattle offered which were met with very good demand. Now that grass turn out is here, and there was moisture to get the grass started, producers are determined to finish buying cattle to fill pastures. Quality varied throughout the day, but mostly average to attractive with some plainer cattle in packages. Buyers were a little more choosy this week picking through loads and taking one or two instead of all loads in a cut when offered, however, the market was still very active with buyers determined to own cattle. Warm temperatures and windy days have dried quite a bit of the moisture previously received. Corn planting is progressing rapidly. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, May 13. --------------------------------------------------------------- FEEDER CATTLE --------------------------------------------------------------- HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 37 457-498 487 382.5-392 388.57 31 503-545 520 362-385 374.79 91 559-591 578 350-380 360.81 201 601-645 620 325-348 335.21 5 633-633 633 305-305 305 Fleshy 180 653-684 673 319-331 325.27 190 725-746 737 306.25-316.5 311.02 14 761-761 761 318-318 318 Replacement 147 750-789 771 289-309.5 299.03 10 797-797 797 285.5-285.5 285.5 Fleshy 26 808-839 833 283-288 283.93 16 844-844 844 297-297 297 Replacement 4 883-883 883 275-275 275 HEIFERS - Medium and Large 1-2 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 14 488-488 488 345-345 345 32 543-543 543 344-344 344 13 593-593 593 338-338 338 STEERS - Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 349 1006-1040 1019 267-274.75 268.4 224 1055-1071 1065 264.5-268.25 266.56 34 1147-1147 1147 244-244 244 Fleshy STEERS - Medium and Large 1 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 7 439-439 439 460-460 460 28 501-522 513 432.5-445 435.04 34 583-589 587 378-395 391.37 107 604-623 612 374-384 379.46 257 676-697 687 347-357.5 354.85 285 714-735 725 338-344.5 341.17 348 751-785 775 325-330 327.79 320 801-841 825 307.5-313.25 309.7 360 854-896 871 291.25-303 298.4 805 902-949 920 276.75-292.75 286.48 1134 952-993 976 267-284 274.22 25 994-994 994 260.5-260.5 260.5 Fleshy STEERS - Medium and Large 1-2 (Per Cwt/Actual) Head Wt Range Avg Wt Price Range Avg Price 14 444-444 444 430-430 430 47 577-599 580 330-345 331.98 20 646-646 646 358-358 358

The livestock complex had a somewhat lethargic day, as the only real excitable action was in the lean hog complex. No new cash cattle trade developed throughout the day. May corn is up 2 1/2 cents per bushel and May soybean meal is down $0.60.
