No trend applicable, as the last auction was end of June. BIG steer and heifer yearling sale today with multiple full loads, half loads and smaller strings. Over 200 bred heifers in the offering, as one of the advertised consignments. Four full loads, four half loads and many smaller packages of light steer and heifer calves. Barely an open seat in the arena, with many consignors and buyers in attendance. TREND: The trend in most active corn futures is sideways for now.

NONCOMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Noncommercial corn traders held a net-long futures position of 255,068 contracts as of Aug. 4, and were net-buyers of 748 contracts during the CFTC reporting period as traders continued to hold a bullish price outlook for late summer with conditions across the U.S. Corn Belt turning hot and dry through the second half of July.

COMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Commercial corn traders held a net-short position of 208,345 contracts as of Aug. 4, and were net-sellers of 4,414 contracts through the CFTC reporting period. The livestock complex ended the day mixed, with the cattle contracts able to end the day mostly higher, but only the lean hog nearby contracts ended the day stronger. Some light cleanup trade was noted throughout the day in the cash market, but prices held steady with the week's weighted average.
