DTN Weekly Average DDG Price Slightly Higher Again
MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The average DTN spot price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended Oct. 8 was $197 per short ton on average, up $2 versus one week ago.
DDG prices were mixed and slightly higher again on average, while the cash corn and soybean meal prices were higher versus one week ago. The DTN National Average Corn Index was up 3 cents per bushel, while the soybean meal price was up $4.30 per short ton versus one week ago.
Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended Oct. 8 was 1.103%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 55.09% and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $7.30 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $7.53.

U.S. Grains and Bioproducts Council in its weekly distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) export market prices report, showed November prices as of Oct. 8: CIF NOLA barge price was down $11 at $269 metric ton (mt) versus one week ago; FOB vessel Gulf price was down $10 at $289 mt; rail delivered PNW was up $5 at $320; and rail delivered to California was up $1 at $310 mt.
USDA recently used Census Bureau data to report August DDGS exports, which hit an 11-year high that month. U.S. exports of DDGS totaled 1,301,440 mt in August, up from 1,103,860 mt in July, and the largest monthly U.S. exports since August 2015. Mexico was the top destination in August, taking 16% of U.S. exports and was followed by Indonesia and South Korea. Through August, 2026 exports of DDGS were running 13% ahead of the same point in 2025.
The Energy Information Administration reported on Wednesday, Oct. 7, that overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.053 million bpd in the week ended Oct. 2, up 46,000 bpd week-on-week and 18,000 bpd, or 1.7%, lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.047 million bpd was 11,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.01 million bpd, up 62,000 bpd week-on-week and 15,000 bpd, or 1.5%, lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 990,000 bpd was 9,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
