MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The average DTN spot price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended June 18 was $153 per ton on average, down $8 on average versus one week ago. One merchandiser told DTN, "The market continues to freefall. Demand is very poor."

DDG prices were lower on average for the week with some plants once again posting sharply lower prices. The cash corn price was slightly lower versus last week thanks to help from the stronger basis, but since June 1, DTN National Average Corn Index is down 20 cents per bushel. Soybean meal prices have also been falling and since June 1, prices have dropped $25.20. The weekly average DDG price has dropped $29 per ton since the end of May.

U.S. Grains and Bioproducts Council, in its weekly distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) export market prices report, showed these July prices as of June 18 that have dropped as well: CIF NOLA barge price was down $21 at $209 metric ton (mt) versus on week ago; FOB vessel Gulf price was down $24 at $236 mt; rail delivered PNW was down $21 at $231; and rail delivered to California was down $16 at $235 mt.

The Energy Information Administration reported on Wednesday (6/17) that overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.102 million bpd in the week ending June 12, down 6,000 bpd week-on-week and 7,000 bpd, or 0.6% lower than in the same week last year. The four-week average output at 1.102 million bpd was 4,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.041 million bpd, down 8,000 bpd week-on-week and 11,000 bpd, or 1% lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.043 million bpd was 4,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
