DTN Weekly DDG Price Slightly Higher on Average
MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The DTN spot price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended Aug. 28 was $142 per ton on average, up $1 versus one week ago.
DDG prices were mixed for the week, but slightly higher on average despite weaker soybean prices, while cash corn was near unchanged. The DTN National Average Corn Index down 1 cent versus one week ago.

Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended Aug. 28 was 1.03%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 49.6% and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $5.26 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $6.03.
U.S. Grains Council, in its weekly distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) September export market prices report, showed as of Aug. 28, CIF NOLA barge price was down $1 at $203 metric ton (mt); FOB vessel Gulf price was down $1 at $223 mt; rail delivered PNW was steady at $244; and rail delivered to California was up $2 at $233 mt. Drafts on the Lower Mississippi River go into place on Sep. 2 as the river is on a slow fall, with Memphis expected to be at or below zero gauge that day.
The Energy Information Administration reported on Wednesday that as of Aug. 22, overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.07 million barrels per day (bpd), down 2,000 bpd versus last week and 9,000 bpd, or 0.1%, lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.097 million bpd was 21,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.017 million bpd, down 1,000 bpd versus last week and 15,000 bpd, or 1.5%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.038 million bpd was 21,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
