DTN Weekly DDG Price Slightly Lower on Average
MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The DTN price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended Dec. 28 was mixed but 1 cent weaker on average at $201 per ton versus one week ago. Prices were mixed this past week and the market was quiet due to the short week and also plenty of product available as plant production rose once again.
The Energy Information Administration on Wednesday said overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.107 million barrels per day (bpd) in the week ended Dec. 22, up 36,000 bpd week-on-week and the highest level since the week-ended Oct. 21, 2021. Four-week average output at 1.082 million bpd was 50,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.047 million bpd, up 38,000 bpd week-on-week and 141,000 bpd, or 13.5%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.022 million bpd was 48,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.
Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended Dec. 28 was 1.19%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 51.15 and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $7.44 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $8.27.
