MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The DTN average price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended July 13 was $199 per ton, down $3 on average from one week ago. With plant production still on the rise, there are plenty of DDG/DDGS around in a tight-demand domestic and export market.

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) at midweek reported that for the week ended July 7, overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.032 million barrels per day (bpd), down 28,000 bpd week-on-week and 27,000 bpd, or 2.6%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.049 million bpd was 10,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022. Midwest ethanol production averaged 970,000 bpd, down 29,000 bpd week-on-week and 26,000 bpd, or 2.7%, higher than in the same week last year. The four-week average output at 987,000 bpd was 8,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.

In its weekly DDGS export update, the U.S. Grains Council said: "Barge CIF NOLA DDGS offers are $4 to $8 per metric ton (mt) higher this week on stronger barge freight while FOB NOLA offers mostly higher despite wide-ranging indications. Offers for 40-foot containers to Southeast Asia are down $2 mt at $309 for August shipment and are up just $1 to $2 mt for September-October positions."

USGC also noted that DDGS/cash corn ratio is up from last week at 1.13 and above the three-year average of 1.02 while the DDGS/Kansas City soymeal ratio is down slightly at 0.46 and below the three-year average of 0.50.
