DTN Weekly DDG Price Higher on Average
OMAHA (DTN) -- The DTN average price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended Dec. 9 was $188 per ton, up $3 per ton on average versus one week ago. DDG prices were mostly steady to higher but if production continues to increase at plants, prices may come under pressure for the rest of this year as most buyers are reported to have their needs met for December.
Wednesday's Energy Information Administration (EIA) report showed overall ethanol production increased 55,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 1.090 million bpd last week, 10% above the same week in 2020. Midwest PADD 2 plant production rose 52,000 bpd or 5.3% to a five-week high 1.030 million bpd as of Dec. 3, 9.5% higher than output during the corresponding week last year.

In its weekly DDGS export price update, the U.S. Grains Council said: "Brokers and exporters again report that DDGS demand is quiet on the export market with rumors of GRIs (General Rate Increase) adding volatility to the market. The consensus now is that sellers have escaped the GRIs but offers have yet to decline in response. Barge CIF NOLA values are steady/down $2/MT this week while FOB NOLA offers are steady. U.S. rail rate are up $2 to $5/MT while 40-foot containers to Southeast Asia are up $1/MT at $355/MT. Notably, offers for containerized DDGS to Vietnam and Taiwan are down $7/MT this week while other destinations (e.g., Malaysia and Thailand) are $3 to $6/MT higher."
